A pair of stories about guys who hit the road, and discover that sometimes the road hits back!
My favorite story. Once upon a time, the writer used to tell his friends stories out loud. One time, a friend said that one of the stories would make a great movie. The writer then thought: the making of that movie would probably be a better story than the actual story itself! And with that, HURRY UP AND WAIT came into being! It's taken over 30 years to get this one "out there" for people to read, and the writer has ordered his own personal paperback edition, because this one is a personal achievement to the writer, who has always wanted to see this one in print, even if it is self-published via Amazon. You want a story that will make you believe in Hollywood again? GRAB IT!
This one has a werewolf, vampires, and is only 99¢! Can't beat that with a stick! Grab it!
There are two titles that I will never put on sale or offer for free: HURRY UP AND WAIT and MALCOLM BRASS. Sorry, but I believe those two titles deserve to stay at full price. If people don't want to pay (and from the ZERO sales for my recent 99¢ titles, that's pretty much a given) full price, they don't need to read those two. 'Nuff said.
Now, still working on new story, still crawling along with The Tropes, and Haunting Myself is somewhere in a Writing Purgatory. Will finish HM some day, just not any time soon. Maybe it's due to Spring, but I just can't get into a ghost story right now. I have another story idea in line after I finish current one. The Tropes probably won't be finished until way down the road. The Hollywood Trilogy won't be compete for months. Hope everyone has a great week! Stay tuned. It's been a very discouraging month, to say the least. I've put out two books in March (Two for the Road and Hurry Up and Wait) and have had exactly ONE sale. But, and this one is about as big as the backside of a brontosaurus, I'm still writing. Maybe, some day, sales will pick up, but I have nothing to be ashamed about with what I've put out. 16 titles. Some good, some lackluster, a couple that I believe are great. As long as I can keep coming up with ideas, I will keep writing. Believe that. Now, back to working on my latest.
Stay tuned. As predicted, Hurry Up and Wait was passed over by KindleScout. Oh well. Already uploaded it to Kindle and should be available to buy soon. This one is probably my favorite story, a feel-good story if there ever was one, and the subtitle was initially going to be: A Hollywood Fairy Tale. Because that is what it is, although what happens to the main character has happened before in real life, and my dedication recalls those who have gone through the process of "being discovered." In this story, good things happen to a good guy. If you feel like reading something that leaves you feeling good, check it out.
Stay tuned. Finished the latest draft for HURRY UP AND WAIT, and although I didn't hit the page count I wanted, I think I'm done. Don't want to overwork it. Sometimes, you just have to know when to finally step away from a story and let it get "out there." Still waiting on the official pass from KindleScout, so I can't put it on Kindle until I receive that email. I hope people like this one, because it's my personal favorite. I put it just above Malcolm Brass, in itself a massive tome. Will update again when I finally get it uploaded to Kindle.
Stay tuned. So, yesterday was actually the last full day for the book on KindleScout, and, hilariously (to the writer, at least), it made the "Hot and Trending" list on its last day on the site. For a whole three hours! Now it's being "reviewed" before the ultimate rejection. I can't put it on Kindle until that happens. Oh well, still editing it, anyway. I can't help but find it humorous that it made the Hot and Trending list, when it had less than half of the views on its last day than its first day on the site. How does that work? *shrug* I hope to have it up for sale on Amazon no later than Sunday.
Stay tuned. Hurry Up and Wait ends it LONG run on KindleScout tomorrow. But it won't be up for sale on Kindle right away. Still working my way through it, tweaking it, fixing things that need to be fixed, and adding more... yes, I know, I should just let it be, but this is my favorite story. Ever. It just makes me... feel good. The character of Scott Carpenter is a guy who just happened to be at the right place at the right time, and he lives happily ever after. I think we need a story like this during these times. Yes, it's basically a fairy tale, set in Hollywood, but... why not? While not as long as MALCOLM BRASS, it's close. I expect it to clock in at 500 pages when I finally put it up for sale on Kindle later this week. I hope you all enjoy it as much I enjoyed writing it. Stay tuned. I will be working on nothing but Hurry Up and Wait this week, giving it one final draft in preparation for it going on sale next week on KDP, after it's slow, painful death on KindleScout. Boy, was that a bad idea! I thought, foolishly, that the story itself would be enough, but going against those who spent hundreds on professional covers just wasn't the right tactic. Would I do it differently if I could do it over? Heck, no! This is still a fun, feel-good story that should stand on its own merits and not simply from a cover. Hopefully, y'all will find out yourself next week.
Stay tuned. Here is my author page on Amazon:

Nothing on the potential news concerning my older material. I have pretty much written that off now. Still working, very slowly, on The Tropes. 9 days until Hurry Up and Wait finally is released from the sad presence it had on KindleScout. That thing really dropped off the radar there, but quick! That's what I get for not investing hundreds of dollars in a fancy, professionally-made book cover. The old adage is obviously not followed on that site, because people DO judge a book by its cover! After it's rejected on KindleScout officially, I will be putting it up on KDP for sale on Kindle. Don't forget to Spring Forward tonight, unless you live in Arizona. Have a glorious weekend! Stay tuned! Here is my collection of my own stories, printed out by Amazon. I had 2 more, The Holiday Collection and Little Nation, Little War, but I gave those away and need to replace them. Still no word about the potential news concerning some of my stories. Patience is a virtue. But it isn't fun to wait, either. Stay tuned. New story is moving forward, albeit VERY slowly! Utilizing a writing style I'm not really used to and it is slowing down my progress to a crawl, compared to my usual writing style. So wanted to jump back into my comfort zone by restarting, but read the pages so far and like them. Will be getting 3 of my paperbacks in the mail today. Excited to see how they turned out. Also, something may be brewing concerning some of my older stories, but can't really say anything yet, because at the moment I am just as much in the dark. Waiting on some new info.
Stay tuned. |
